“This is more than a sermon”
I had just finished preparing to preach a word that the Lord had laid strongly on my heart; it was surreal and I had never experienced God reveal His will for marriages in such a powerful way. What made it even more profound is the fact I was going to be a part of Gods plan to sustain and preserve marriages. I was in awe of Him and it reminded me of the scripture in Jeremiah 1:5.
“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”
A blog though? Really? Is this for real? Like, where’s the extra time to take this on? 24 hours is currently not enough and yet here we are obeying the Holy Spirit and letting God be God. Now, don’t get me wrong…..I questioned God, I thought about what people will say……you know the ones who think you have no place giving advice on relationships when you’ve been married for less than 5 years? Yeah not you, them or wait……are you part? Don’t mind me!
I get it though….
Relationships are so sacred and must be protected and not exposed to every Spirit BUT this right here is the Holy Spirit at work. This is God writing through His vessel who is NOT PERFECT but has refused to pull a Jonah. I am truly committed to using my passion and gifts for His purpose and I look forward to what God is about to do with ‘Not Easily Broken’.
The truth is, I am called to this, I have always been passionate about the concept of relationships and romance…. have I told you my friends used to call me the “the love doctor” in school? The older I got though, the more fearful I became about marriage. Can I be real real? My parents’ divorce scarred me. I knew they weren’t perfect, I knew they had differences and I also knew they were trying their best but they were the closest example of marriage in my life and so when it was all over, everything I knew intimately about marriage fell apart.
I learnt that it was possible to marry right and still make a mess of it. If I am totally honest, now I can actually look back and say I learnt so much from them. A lot of what I do differently to help my marriage thrive is because I saw what impact the opposite could have. Talk about all things working together for my good.
Now while I am still learning everyday about relationships and marriage, I also don’t believe in doing it alone. I believe in community, I believe in safe spaces, I believe that as iron sharpens iron so one couple sharpens another. I have such a passion to learn and grow and share what I have discovered to preserve the beauty of relationships but I also want you to be a part of this community as we grow together.
So, from practical tips that are relevant to today’s society to prayer that will bring transformation and illumination…it’s going to be a fun ride. So once again, welcome! Make this home, encourage others by sharing, comment and take some practical tools away with you. I am so excited but before you go, remember… “This is more than a blog”.
